Zeinab Kachakeche
Hi, I am Zeinab, pronounced as [zæɪnæb]. I am a third year graduate student in the Language Science department at UCI. I am interested in how the linguistic choices of speakers aid in facilitating communication, whether it is through the pragmatic inference that listeners make or by utilizing the social and linguistic context in production.
Advised by Gregory Scontras and Richard Futrell, my research focuses on how efficiency plays a role in language production across different languages. I utilize experimental, computational, and modeling approaches to answer my research questions. Before my PhD, I finished my BA in Language Science at UCI with a minor in Psychology, and I researched the role of subjectivity in adjective ordering in Arabic.
When I am at UCI, you can find me on the 2nd floor of the Social Sciences Plaza Building, room 2259.
